San Francisco duo made up of Christopher Owens and Chet "JR" White that broke into the indie scene barely last year. Elvis Costello-ish indie pop rock. Mostly forlorn songs about love and drugs. Not complicated music, but special in its simplicity. FCC Clean. I like all tracks, but 2,5 & 6 are best. 1. Mid tempo. Island jibe going on here. Plucky guitar, some wind and brass. Sax solo towards end. †2. Mid tempo. Sad, sad music. Straightforward guitar chords, nothing too complicated, nice pause in the guitar during first chorus line. Much like their past singles. 3. Down tempo, dragging rhythm. Slide guitar in the background. Very forlorn, with a distorted brass solo. 4. Mid tempo. Largely instrumental track, guitars and brass playing off each other. Humming and moaning towards the end. 12s of silence at end. †5. Mid tempo. Breathy vocals. Kind of a funky rhythm. Guitar solo halfway through. Female voice joins Owens for the final verses. †6. Mid tempo. Psychedelic track. All psych haze until drums join in at 2:10min. Voices at 2:45min. At 6:40, psych haze drops out of the last channel and it’s all drums and guitars jamming. Tambourine outro. 6s silence @ end. | ||
