Album Review

Reviewed 2010-12-09
Very structured garage punk-type psych with lots of distortion. Pop songs and an unusually concise and economical approach from a Kranky band. It’s enough of a twist on the ordinary to keep things interesting, though. Some jam influences present, and maybe some shoegaze. No FCCs noted.

1. Chunky bass, snare keeps the time, layered guitar lines. (2:37)
*2. Krauty, stoner feel to this one, a little more driving. (3:56)
3. Shouty vocals, pleading tune, dancey drum part, delayed, distorted guitars. Swagger. (3:41)
4. Almost a surf feel to this one, thumping tambourine, tremelo trippy effects on some of the guitars. (3:14)
5. Upbeat, straightforward, kind of post-punky. (1:44)
*6. Delayed, hazy, drug feel, insistent, solid psych stuff. A little bit Wooden Shjips. Abrupt ending. (3:55)
7. Cymbal pounding, more urgent feel. (2:08)
8. Slower, head bob drug trance. (3:34)
9. Punky, not really my thing, barked vocals. (1:44)
10. Monotone vocals over some delay guitar and distorted strums. (2:34)
