Dream pop intermingling with found sounds. Benoit Pioulard is a project of Thomas Meluch, who drums in several other bands. Click-folk, acoustic-tronic, warm, atmospheric pop music. As close to indie pop as Kranky can veer. For fans of Lotus Plaza, Atlas Sound, Peter Broderick. I definitely like some of the instrumentals. No FCCs noted.
1. Ambient drifting distortion drone, lush, no percussion, instrumental. (2:50)
2. Wind sounds and guitar flicking, upfront vocals, light drum machine, airy keys. (3:18)
*3. Warm, uptempo, swirling feel, melodic, clicking and clanking percussion. (3:44)
4. Interlude of field recordings and ominous ambient noise set to sustained guitar notes. (1:50)
5. Skittery noise is the backdrop to a warm acoustic guitar fingerpicking and light shakers. (3:25)
6. Bouncy, strummy tune, lots of reverb on the drum parts, consonant backing vocals. (3:07)
*7. Pads and sustained pianos and strings in a warped, distant, dreamy instrumental. (2:19)
8. Very poppy structure and easy rhythm section, some accordion and very deliberate pop guitar riff. (2:52)
9. Another grainy instrumental. (1:10)
*10. Nice identifiable guitar strum with enough atmospheric strangeness to keep it interesting. (2:57)
11. This little interlude has some vinyl closed loop-isms. (1:05)
12. Sunny, echoey, reverbed saturation of summer warmth and popsicles. (3:28)
13. Hazy layers of guitars and light percussion with effects on the distant guitar lead and lots of echo on the percussion. (2:40)
*14. Slow, dreamy distorted guitars and atmospheric layers. Great bliss music for drugs or relaxation. (5:23)
