The second release from Allure, a Stanford rapper from the class of 2012. Allure does a lot of the production for the Stanford Hip Hop Congress releases, so it’s no surprise that his beats are spot-on. The lyrics are also stellar—all super intelligent stuff with lots of literary references and witty insight on topics ranging from love to midlife crisis. All great stuff—start with the two singles “No More Heroes” and “Pipe Dreams,” or check out the Outro for some great bed music. Show Stanford rappers some love and give it a spin!
FCCS: 1,6 TRY: 2, 4
1. FCC: (fucker) Electro 80’s throwback beat with lots of stuttering handclaps. “I am Windows 7 but you a flash game, Steve Jobs never had this much Mac, maaaaaaan.”
*2. A confident flow, excellent, professional production, and verbose lyrics that will leave you rewinding the track again and again to fully absorb the sort of witty rhymes he churns out. What more could you ask for?
3. Slow, warbly minimalist production with deep resonating drums. Thoughtful deliberate flow about love and heartbreaks. Dark, with canny introspection.
*4. The second single. Slow, epic strings intro leads into an introspective mid pace. Tons of great lyrics that tend to gravitate around failure, “pipe dreams,” etc. Great background singing, and some of the best production on the album.
5. Smooth instrumental: two minutes of gentle tinkling piano, stuttered 808 drums, and chopped up string samples. Perfect for mic beds.
