Ambient electronica. This is a re-release of Mark Nelson (former frontman of Labradford)’s 2006 record, For Waiting, For Chasing on Mosz Records. Nelson broke from Kranky for the release at the time to emphasize the departure he made with his sound. In 2004, he recorded his son’s heartbeat (while in the womb), and processed and incorporated these sounds into all seven tracks. Earlier Pan*American albums had a bit more a dub influence than this one. These songs integrate disparate, cacophonous elements like processed static alongside grand horns and melodic synths. Tim Hecker, loscil, Fennesz, etc.

*1. Mixing board whirring and static, processed horns, clanging bells, all absorbed into a blissful, expressionist canvas. (7:24)
2. Otherworldly spaceship music, much more rhythmic glitchyness, drawn-out synth pads. (5:02)
3. Rumbly ebb and flow to this one, cerebral, dense, shimmering tones. (5:36)
4. Brief, bulging digital bass drum, synth pattern. (1:48)
*5. Ringing synths, pulsating digital percussion and some distant bongo or snare work, more flugelhorn, relaxed images of a beach juxtaposed against urgent electro flourishes. (5:52)
*6. Harsh guitar effects open, stark sustained guitar and synth interplay, a symphony of anxiety. (5:52)
7. Pitch modulating synths, jittery processed heartbeat, watery electric piano chords, lovely little piano refrain comes in ~3:00 left, slow release. (9:44)
