Latino rock-pop with ‘duranguense’ and ‘jarocho’ undercurrents. Warning: the music genre is very varied across this album, so expect all tracks to differ dramatically. Vocals are central, often end in yowls or whines, mostly in Spanish. (Key: U=upbeat, M=midtempo, D=downtempo). FCC violation on 4. Try 3, and for something different, 5 & 6.
1.M. Howling vocals in chorus, soft brass in background & varied percussions.
2.U. Electronica mixed with banda. Slightly distorted vocals. Putters off.
†3.D. Slow indie rock. Uses acoustic/electric guitars as well as the typical Mexican ‘requinto’, or small, 4-stringed instrument. Ethereal layered vocals.
*4.M. FCC: fucking/shit. Irritating vocals that alternate languages (Eng & Sp). Priestly chorale in background. Fiddles, synths and keyboards.
†5.M. Synthesized farce of ‘duranguense’ music. Halting beat, soft, mourning brass in background, melodramatic vocals.
†6.D. Dramatic rendition combining French-style accordion and soft ‘requinto’ strumming. Brass and soft percussions also make an appearance.
7.M. Punkish pop farce of the infamous ‘narcocorridos’, songs which tell of drug lords’ activities. Quick, distorted guitars and whiny vocals.
8.D. Slowed down electronica version of 2) with more keyboard synth effects and a more onerous tone. ~5s.
