Here's simple, basic, indie-rock. Meaning it's pretty damn good. Their PR blurb says they go for clever lyrics and melodies like Guided by Voices (yeah, I guess I hear that) and Skip Spence of Moby Grape (nah, I don’t hear that).

There's definitely some clever songwriting in this set of short songs coming in just under half an hour. The singer’s got a range of about 6 notes. He sorta talk-sings in a gravelly, low Leonard Cohen-ish voice. Instead of putting you off, though, it makes you lean forward & listen.

There’s not a bad song on here, but I’ve marked what I think are the best.

5. * Good instrumental! Start with arpeggios, add crunchy chords, even a bit of lead. (1:56)
6. War weary cynicism set to 2 chords. Spanish Civil War allusions. RIYL folk-rock. (2:37)
7. Tongue in cheek love song. Catchiest melody. (3:14)
8. Comically hoarse singing. Acerbic wit. A bit more bite from the guitars. (3:38)
9. ** Acoustic guitar for a change. Folk-song storytelling. Very like Leonard Cohen. (2:29)
10. * Goofy, odd, catchy. Humorous finish to the album. This will leave you smiling. (2:20)
