Traaashy dance. Franz trashy. Sex-obsessed slick and edgy synth rock / electropop. Harder than cheese. All in good fun, but they'd lay ya too. A duo of just-barely-of-age (see: band name) Kiwi boys who happen to put on an insane live show. This music embarrasses even me. Fucking play, play, play.
RIYL: Franz, MGMT, Louis XIV, the 80s.
try: 1, 2
FCC clean
*1. handclappy bright synth club rock goodness. soary keys, rooted synth bass, hilarious boy-moaning along the lines of... um, what louis xiv sound like when they're imitating girls.
*2. sooo 80s. a bangin synth riff, whip-fast melody licks and cool sky-high vox. at times, he successfully sounds like johnny whitney -- it's as much an attitude thing as anything. "we're going down baby going downtown baby tonight." uh-huh.
3. i am having the worst savage garden flashback right now. exposed vox and soft padded throb drums. slowish, comparatively. picks up to clappy machine and laser synth. madonna could have written this. warm sound, but not fun enough.
4. remix of #1. clashy drum machine, 80s synth washes. prince-ish.
5. remix of #1. on the experimental side. racquetballing percussion. vox jut in and out, creepy robot accents and low-freq ruddering. drum-centric.
