Album Review
Your Imaginary Friend

Pleasant decent indie rock that incorporates some rootsy elements and a nice tone that will typify all things about America and the west and California and the beach I suppose. The Beautiful California comes to mind with a lovely slight twang and air, but overall more rock and less twang. Like Creedence interpreted by Galaxie 500? After a while the vocals smack of Brian Wilson as does the realization that these are just simple songs really, nicely and simply done. Maybe it’s the slightly out of tune guitars that enamored me to this in a sea, a tidal wave of new “indie rock” to the station. Check it out.

1) strummy and smacks of hippie folk rock, lyrics of Carolina, then a certain effect on the voice elevates this above what you might expect, makes you think: lets listen to the next track and see what happens
2) a solid yet simple beat, echoey twang with organ and urgency fills the room with lofty and trippy echoes and a lap steel guitar set behind that validates this entire cd
3) 12 bar boogie guitar, almost indecipherable FCC “bullshit”
4) pretty and echoey effects intro this simple pop tune where the Beach Boys/Wilson starts to shine through
5) slight rockin tone, good lyrics, a simple genuine heartfelt song
6) slightly out of tune guitar intro, then a western train chugging snare beat fills out the song
7) pleasant twangy guitar and distant girl vocs smack of Galaxie 500 for sure
