If Wooden Shijps are the heart then Lumerians are the soul of the burgeoning fertile body of the Bay Area new-psyche scene: Oakland quintet plays “droning dance music for the soul you forgot you had” (one sheet). Heavy elements of classic Floyd’ian psyche infiltrate what at times borders on “noise-psyche exotica” (me). Its true, of all the noisey weird fuzzed and blissed out bands to slay the audience at the 2009 SF Freakout this one had the most hip shaking ass bouncing quality. Mesmerizing noise bass, sick percussion and tape treatments, all excellently recorded and mixed by local characters Alex Oropeza and Xtopher Antimatter. Vocals present, buried, on bookend tracks, else everything is hardcore mind bending new psyche that even channels the demons of proto-noise band Chrome (track 8). All tracks will fuck you.
1) bouncy almost swingy upbeat fuzzy bass and trippy eerie synth, echoey vocs
2) almost funky snare drum beat driven killer searing synth juxtaposed with Iron Butterfly/Pink Floyd synth
3) exotica meets new psyche to start, cool fun beat and trippiness, midway seriously shifts to a half-time sexy swing
4) 60’s London psyche flare, chill organ based Floyd’ian
5) more introspective and chill psyche
6) seriously sick bass and noise looped percussion w/ heavy tribal beat
7) cool minor toned near spy feel somehow, killer reverb bass
8) slowed freaky Chrome feel, sickness, ends w/ lovely drone plod, epic
9) big tribal beat, slow mindful w/ buried vocs/lyrics
