Adventure / The Lesser Known / Carpark Records
Extensive use of layered synths makes for a synth-pop album that is heavily rooted in the 80s. Generally the album comprises of upbeat, airy songs. Pulsing bass coupled with airy synth makes me want to dance. Album uses minimal vocals. No FCCs. Favorites: 2, 5, 6, 9. RIYL: Dum Dum Girls, La Roux (?), Yazoo
1. (2:56) Instrumental. Upbeat driving synth makes it ethereal, and the bass and drums makes it pop-like.
2. (4:32)* Airy and light. Like you’re floating. Generally high-pitched synths. The driving bass makes the song somewhat gloomy.
3. (3:01) Samba-like drum beats.
4. (3:24) Sounds similar to Track 1. Vocalist’s falsetto is somewhat annoying.
5. (5:10)** A dark song, yet still manages to be airy synth-pop. Nice change from all the light-mood songs from earlier tracks. Uses electric videogame-esque tones in the background. I love this song!
6. (2:46)** Pumping bass and electronica beats makes this the perfect song to dance to. Heavy beats alternate with light synth beats. I said “WOW” within a few seconds of hearing the song; I knew I liked it already. PLAY THIS FOR A GOOD TIME OR IF YOU WANT A CLUB ATMOSPHERE.
7. (4:38) Organ-like intro, but segues into hypnotic beats. Repetitive lyrics said in a robotic way makes for a hypnotic song. I feel like I have too much information being jammed into my ears with the song’s heavy beats and layered synths.
8. (5:20) Dominant bongo beats makes it a jungle-like song. At least
9. (7:03)* Ethereal and haunting. Breathy vocals. Song alternates between long parts light and airy; use of little to no bass, then suddenly transitions to short segments of grungy distortions.
10. (3:20) Mellow and relaxing song. Laid-back.
