Collection of early/mid 70’s Thai/Bankok music that sounds undeniably “Psyche” and lifts heavy riffs from Black Sabbath, Chicago, and Santana. Undeniably influenced by late 60’s American/English psychedelic bands, this music is a unique phenom to Thai, a melding of external and also internal cultures. One of the major progenitors, Sroeng Santi, dubbed it “Luk Thung Underground” (I urge you to read the excellent liner notes for an historical account). Most ear-catching about this collection is the inclusion of “shadow music” or “string music”, “up to date versions of traditional melodies, characterized by tremolo guitar lines borrowed from bands such as the Ventures… over a mixture of Thai and Western instrumentation or indeed more straight forward copies and covers.” Check out the first and last tracks, where the riffs from Iron Man and the only song that ever rocked by Chicago are used.

1) iron man swings with sultryness
2) upbeat go go lounge
3) cuter pop
4) morricone good bad and the ugly meets mancini spy movie
5) drug lord lounge music
6) slow and darker
7) borrows from Santana a lot
8) female vocs and upbeat
9) smoking cool guitar w/ start and stop spoken word interjections
10) sultry
11) fem vocs big snare beat, sexy
12) funky “Shaft” cop movie stylings
13) turns into a stony swing in places
14) rip on Chicago riff w/ out of tune brass
