A dreamy set of five slow-burners from a band who claims to be from “Bliss Village, Washington.” That should give you a pretty good idea of what they sound like. (In reality this is the solo project of Samuel Meloncon, who runs the Seattle-based Debacle Records) Echoey reverb-drenched hallucinations about spacetravel, tasting the sun, “hey guys, have you ever thought that there is no such thing as time?” getting high on the beach, etc. etc. These are some really good vibrations, that stand out in a genre that is possibly the hardest to stand out in.

RIYL: Ken Seeno, Ulrich Schnauss, Tim Hecker

1. A slow, plodding electronic rhythm gradually melts into a bright sunny wash of guitar. Epic as high hell.
2. A lethargic blast of buttery overdrive guitar with the gain ALL the way up. Sounds something like the space shuttle taking off in slow motion. A great splash of cosmic synthesizer hits halfway. A double sunrise over Tatooine.
3. Midtempo keyboard arpeggios with a echoey techno beat. The keyboard grows and grows in intensity, with added layers of reverb.
4. Shimmering beachy electronica peppered with a thousand little layers of goodness. A midtempo beat keeps it all in check. Damn son. One of the best songs I’ve heard all year.
5. Guitar overdrive drone. Harsher than the rest of the album, but still maintains a “chill” vibe through the use of some great chimes. Pretty “standard,” nothing too exciting here.
