The Meat Puppets have returned with a musical concoction that will keep you coming back for more throughout the summer. A delicious helping of weirdness is thrown into the blend, with synth-rock, psych-surf riffs, and a rockabilly stomp with fantastic vocal harmonies all blending seamlessly together for a blissful, toe-tappin’ experience. Fantastic, folksy guitars crank out anthems for the hopeful souls in summer—what more do you need? In short, these oddballs influenced every band you liked in the 90s that nobody cares about anymore, and remained better. Play this often if you want to enjoy life. (And to think they used to sort of be a punk band in the 80s…) BEST TRACKS: 4, 6, 8, 12 FCCs: 8, 12 1. Summer-y, CSN-esque harmonies drifting along in a mid-paced rock tune 2. Pretty piano melodies and fuzzy guitar workouts 3. Quirky and lovey-dovey with some reggae parts 4. Beautiful, casual, upbeat—I am enamored with this tune 5. Slightly bizarre riff in a song chock-full of endearing wit 6. A gorgeous country-rock tune for watching the sunrise 7. Like previous track, but more melancholy 8. Catchy and irresistible with some brooding, major-key guitar lines 9. A light, pretty acoustic number 10. Slightly punk-ish, still with unique harmonies and odd psych-isms 11.
