They’re pretty crazy in the UK. Sure, they’re the reason why frat bros around the country are getting off to wahahahahahah wobble stuff, but they also have a sprouting scene of cutting edge dubstep and bass music. This compilation celebrates Hessle Audio’s finest artists and does it pretty darn well. For fans of Skream, Peverelist, James Blake, ‘n the gang.
FCC: Clean Try: 1, 5, 2

1) * 6:50 Lo-fi drums, turns into half-tempo, bass-heavy burner. Great sampled lyrics, well-balanced.
2) * 4:49 Starts out squeaky, minimalistic. Face-melting percussion. Keeps adding layers, subtleties. Raw, dirty. Yes.
3) 6:13 Ravey, flailing synths. Trapped in some smoky basement. Slightly schizophrenic.
4) 4:42 Pounding bass stabs. Heavy, swining, soft synths on top.
5) * 4:33 Early James Blake in the non-MTV way. Messed up vocal samples, morphed, warped and just weird. Beautiful texture, as always.
