as reviewed by Mister Esquire lo-fi (yes!) indie rock this is indie rock -not indie pop- with some damn fine poppy moments. trio consists of art school grads. mal&fem vox on all songs, sometimes one leads the other. always shambolic ala pavemet/sebadoh et al. =it's like it's 1996 again (quick! get out the 4-track!) one of the years best releases. FCC WARNING: 11('FUCK') RIYL: pavement, sebadoh, gbv. vaselines, et al. MISTER ESQUIRE SEZ: MEOW MEOW MEOW MEOW MEOW! YOU WILL PLAY THESE TRACKS: 1, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 14 *1. very bashy vaselines 2. kinda sebadohey slugginess. 3. elliot smith tempo w/out his voice. *4. mal leads the vox. chavez/polvo. lurchy yet anthemic. *5. fem vox lead. breeders and versus gone way lo-fi. lil' helium. *6. silkworm&sebadoh w/organ. poppy. 7. slurchy. 8. lumbery. *9. slow bash and forth, great duel vox. *10. very gbv, but with a girl singing. *11.
