Album Review
Your Imaginary Friend

No-wave meets prog. “Art Rock” combines the complexity of progressive jazz, complex time signatures and structures, with the dissonant skronky nods to noise that no-wave and punk brought us. Birdsongs of the Mesozoic, Zappa come to mind. Soft Machine meets James Chance and the Contortions. A lot of it has a nod to world sentiments, organic. Great stuff from the fantastic Cuneiform Records.

1) disjunct, driving, skronky sax, art rock maxmosus with looped undecipherable lyrics
2) chill mindful walk, almost an intro to the next:
3) explodes into an urgent pensive epic prog jam
4) epic, multifaceted, sax counterpoints to guitar, keys, well everything, prog art rock at its highest
5) 1 min intro to next, kick drum and noisey sax
6) got some noisier aspects, start stop disjunct with some heavy beats
7) more melodic aspects, almost funky, vocals lend it to be more musical
8) more epic stuff
9) more of a funky midpaced swing to this
10) quiet, exploration in keys arpeggio with sax/reed tones
11) epic, longer
