International Waters was formed by two members of the venerable pop band Voxtrot (Mitch Calvert and Jason Hall). Now, they're 5 piece from Austin that plays indie/80s/twee pop (with a bit of lo-fi). Most songs have a nice, lazy midtempo pace. They also throw in the odd dash of bladerunner core and psych. The vocals are very interesting: a bit coarse and sometimes off-rhythm, making for great hooks. I recommend this for all pop, bladerunner, and even experimental shows. No FCCs detected
2,1 for pop. 4 for acoustic pop. 8,10, 9 for psych
RIYL: Voxtrot, Girls, Sarah Records,The Smiths
1.* 2:42 Languid. Starts off slow with psych-y vocals over a lone guitar. Jumps into nice lazy/hazy groove. Last 15 are a nice little house-esque beat
2.* 2:19 Violins and soft crooning "oh oh oh"'s. Super twee. Building, swirling, jangling chill instrumentals. BEST TRACK
3. 3:48 Morrisey like vocals over a cheesy 70s groove with violins. A bit melancholy.
4.* 4:07 Acoustic love song. Wonderfully pleasant like a warm late afternoon. Sounds a bit like Girls.
5. 3:25 Acoustic hazy and melancholic folk pop. Female supporting vox. Ends ~15 seconds early
6. 3:57 Fade in strings. Gentle acoustic guitars and vocals, very laid back. Charming duet
7. 4:50 Starts quiet. Drums jump in and pep up. Ends 30 seconds left
8.* 3:02 Quiet, simple acoustic little jangle. You late night/bladerunner DJs would like this, some droning synth jumps in. Catchy yet spacey tune.
9. Melodramatic movie-soundtrack violins with smattered vocals. Jumps into what sounds like a dystopian surf rock tune at 2:40
10.* 6:33 Starts with a lone Scandinavian(?) spoken word sample until 5:10. Psych-y, chill, dreamy. The sample plays through the entire track with just instrumentals in the background
