Retro, psychedelic rock music. Ethan Miller (of Comets on Fire) leads a local, Grateful Dead-loving, California hippy jam band. Both sides are long pieces - the first being an indulgent, bluesy, glazed interpretation of a McCartney song, while the second is a frenetic, loose, improvised piece. Allman Brothers, Grateful Dead, and Neil Young channeled to the present with a taste for noise. I saw Howlin’ Rain perform in Golden Gate Park a few years ago and that was probably the ideal location to enjoy this brand of throwback excess. Other Comets on Fire members play guitars and drums on this. This can be played on any KZSU general music show - I think Francis and Dizzy Jackson would love the first side. Good stuff.

Side A. Wings cover. Major 60s organ epic ballad jam feel, strained vocals, massive guitar solo passages. Scratches that epic classic rock San Francisco 1969 hippy itch. (15:08)
Side B: Freaky psych fusion, upbeat, messy, jam. A touch of jazz with keys, a little bit more atonality, and noodly solos. (16:28)
