Droning, goopy, foggy bliss. Landscapes and sweeping, dreamy atmospheres with an emphasis on guitar, samples, vocals, and minimal percussion. Both sides transport the listener to a nautical, otherworldly, navel-gazing, hypnotic trance. This evolves slowly but pays hearty dividends to those who invest the attention. Xela used to be more IDM-minded early in his career, but he has developed into an ambient drone stalwart. This slab is from our friends at SMTG. I recommend side A if you don’t have the huevos rancheros to give up 23 minutes.

Side A: Dreamy cooing looped vocals and layers of gentleness. Halfway through, vocals drift out and some distant, soaked guitar hypnotizes and meditates. The whole track features light, tingling, chimey percussion. Lo-fi ambient bliss. (11:23)

Side B:. Windy, cyclic trudging-through-snow loop, wine glass eerie reverbed chimes. With around 10 minutes left, warbled distant vocals and sirens come in. Sea-faring drifting into a foggy whirlpool. Last 6 minutes are distorted and scary (22:57)
