Brazilian jazz for flute, sax, guitar, mandolin, and percussion. Everything from historical choros given a modern flair to straight-up jazz. The performances are solid and the arrangements stylish. Recorded live at Yoshi’s in Oakland, 2010. Jovin Santos Neto guests. *1. A sweet, sophisticated and bright choro w/warm work from all. *2. A warm, lazy sway, then the sax comes in and makes even sunnier. 3. Upbeat and happy brushed with a sweet, modern touch. Very nice. *4. Halting piano leads to an upbeat sunny day sweep. Great sax! 5. Flutes & percussion dance their way into a complex upbeat trip. 6. Slow and reflective w/a warm and gentle air. Sad too. *7. Bright, sweet sunny-day in Brazil sound. 8. A long drum solo intro to a sweet, upbeat Bahia jazz romp. 9. Slow and gentle at first, then warm mid/upbeat jazz. So good. *10. Fast fun w/a sweetly playful air and a great energy. | ||
