The Native Cats are a duo from Australia who have a very distinct post-punk feel. Their instrumentation is sparse and lead by bass guitar, with lo fi electronic drums providing the percussion, and occasional hints of synth to keep things fresh. The vocals are delivered in a half-talking, half-singing manner, and reminds me a lot of the vocalist for Disco Inferno, along with David Byrne, at times. The comparisons to Disco Inferno don't stop there, the percussion on track 6 sounds like it's lifted straight from DI Go Pop, and they both have the same hypnotic nature in their music (mainly thanks to the bass). The bass/minimalist drum duo also reminds me a lot of Young Marble Giants. Really solid album. RIYL: Young Marble Giants, Disco Inferno, Talking Heads. Try tracks 2,3,5,7. All tracks FCC clean.

7 *6:27 Starts off with same motif as rest of album - bass guitar provides melody, lo fi drum beat, but accompanying it is warm theremin-like sound along with more electronic toying. Things start coming to a head at the end, and then explode into static.
8 6:49 Synths, bass, and... an accordian? Vocals change up, become more baritone with a backing female harmony.
