Album Review
HYPRK
Reviewed 2011-12-04
Smoky, mystical psychedelic guitar sauntering. Kind of what you would expect just by looking at the band’s name/album title: 3 long tracks, all are dreamy instrumentals with slow-evolving song structures and drone/ambient elements. Lots of similar vibes as Sun Araw, Peaking Lights, or Archers by the Sea, but with less electronic elements, and perhaps more downbeat. Also for fans of Pine Smoke Lodge, Cae-Sur-A Tapes, and Sonic Meditations.

*1. (14:07) Shadowy, atmospheric. Really cool guitar washes and psychedelic amblings.
2. (6:00) Layers of ringing guitars, cacophonous percussion.
3. (14:06) Deep, dark cavernous. More of an emphasis on percussion that guitars.
