Two baroque-sounding songs from Wreathes, a duo out of Wisconsin. Employing a variety of string instruments, thuddy percussion, and heavy chanted lyrics, this sounds like it might have very well been recorded by pagan worshippers in northern Europe or multitasking Lord of the Rings extras. "Rohan-core?" It took me a while to realize that they were speaking in English, their annunciation is so stylized. An interesting sound, brought to us by the same guys who play in Burial Hex, The World on Higher Downs, and Rain Drinkers. FCC CLEAN

A: Slow, chanting, organic feel. Harp, mandolin, dull drums.

B: That same Gregorian chant, thing going on here, with a slightly brighter atmosphere and a horns section.
