This EP packs in 4 mixes of the song “Gangster” along with two additional dubstep tracks. “Gangster” itself is not dubstep, but there is a dubstep remix, thus half of the songs on this EP are dubstep, which is interesting. A lot of computer-generated synths and potentially vintage drum machines, or at least vintage drum sounds. Pretty entertaining and most of the songs have some sort of danceable beat. Try 1, 4,5.
1. Chill dubwobble with an occasional break into double time, edgy and interesting synths
2. Chill and mellow dubstep with a lot of samples. Synths take a backseat to the (fairly standard) beat.
3. Beat deviates from the norm, more samples, some nice vintage drum machine sounds, more interesting synths than track 2. Not danceable.
4. Very cool progressive house-ish take on the track. Beat changes aren’t jarring, they’re cool.
5. Most straightforward beat of the bunch, drop has a nice and hypnotizing rising synth. I’m a fan.
6. Another dubstep track with fairly standard wobbles and pads. Not too much variation within the song, either.
