Album Review

Warped folk that sounds ethereal and demonic. Lots of acoustic guitar, bells, whistles, chorus. A nice range of noise and pop, so there's something here for 'everyone'. All tracks are good.

RIYL - any "freak folk", how weird us KZSU folk are, Sung Tongs, Tilly and the Wall
PICKS - 3, 2, 11, 9
FCC - clean

1. (2:41) Off kilter and relaxed, chorus of voices, sort of cult like
*2. (3:32) Quiet folk. It's both angelic and on the edge of losing it, chorus makes it more grounded in last minute.
*3. (4:26) Noise folk - builds in both intensity and dreaminess, last 1:30 is strummy folk.
4. (2:10) Upbeat, heavy strumming, chorus
5. (3:59) Midtempo repetitive strumming, a little like Sufjan Stevens
6. (3:18) Midtempo, downer
7. (1:35) Scattered plucking and chorus singing
8. (4:30) Strumming and whistle, get more upbeat
*9. (4:11) Amusing dirge
10. (4:01) Strummy, with bells and accordion, builds
*11. (2:59) Banjo and pretty vocalizing, Vashti Bunyan
12. (6:36) Noodly folk eventually builds into a more structured song
