You Are Not The Most Important Person In The World

The Bombay Sweets / Bombay Sweets / Phantom Form / 2011

A duo, Nathan and Jeff, originally starting with just their 1950’s DuKane tape machine from a garage sale in Minneapolis. Hence their garage/rockabilly feel, mixed into neat Indie/Surf. No wave that takes 2011 and gives it old flavors from 60’s garage. They’re fairly new, but will surely do well.
Honestly, this album is grande.
If you’re looking for garage tunes to convulse to wildly yet have your head bob along rhythmically, then this is it. This grunge doesn’t overpower the voice or the notes, remains vibrant.
It’s hard not to smile to it (after wiping sweat off your brow maybe).

Favorites: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 (It doesn’t matter, they’re all good)

1: “I Take You Alone” (2:05) - Garage indeed! Similar to Misfits/Ramones. Fast and raucous (with that neat surfy startoff).
2*: “Wolf’s Breath” (3:03) - Yes! Definitely good music to writhe to. Upbeat.
3**: “Brutal Mythology” (1:48) - From the very start it catches you and twists through- can’t help shaking along to it. Epic and really just a great short piece.
4*: “Happy Birthday (To Your Petty Reasons)” (3:05) - The guitar and bass is great, and the rebelliousness of it all is so catchy - “just to burn it down!”. Similar to The Clash.
5*: “Li’L Lamb” (2:02) - Up beat, with a skipping guitar beat, good to howl along to.
6**: “You Are Not The Most Important Person In The World” (3:15) - Mid tempo, the least grunge. Clear vocals, with a very catchy guitar. Ominous and great!
