Toronto-based band The Abatoirs offer a fun, racy, rollicking ride. Lots of stuff going on here including blues, alt-country, ’50’s r’n’r, psycho-billy, call it what you may, it’s entertaining stuff. Standard instrumentation of guitar, bass and drums. No FCC’s.

*My Favorites*: 1, 2, 5, 6, 8, 11.

1. *(2:46) Mid. Twangy guitar, harmonica, easy rollin’ ride.
2. *(2:48) Mid. Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry guitar stylings, plodding beat. Cool.
3. (1:47) Mid. Older R.E.M. sound, driving beat, easy-going.
4. (2:24) Slow / Mid. Self-referential song about his town and band with backing vocals, cool picked guitar.
5. *(2:33) Mid / Fast. Great lyrics inside a rockin’ alt-country number. Killer.
6. *(2:52) Mid. Another fun lyrical song. Great beat with nice guitar work.
7. (2:52) Mid. Upbeat rockin’ ride. Driving with backing vocals, cool guitar, drums.
8. *(2:10) Mid. Paired down song about the attributes and shortcomings of a woman. Bent and fun.
9. (1:49) Mid. Plodding rockin’ bar room beat.
10. (3:14) Slow / Mid. Mellow school-house rock. Sparse and sweet.
11. *(2:18) Mid. Feel-good country groover.
(4:17) Mid. Plodding, twangy beat. Cool guitar work.
