Post-rock/slowcore/experimental A reissue of the Supreme Dicks’ discography, this music was recorded in the early 90s. Achingly beautiful guitars, half-spoken vocals, and loose playing characterize this compilation. Though Supreme Dicks did not associate with any slowcore bands, in places these songs remind me of early Red House Painters and Bedhead. It’s all great. Start with 1, 2, 5, 6. FCC WARNING 3. 1. *(4:30)—Eerie, mumbled vocals and beautiful guitar sounds give way to a couple extended passages during which the band rocks out. 2. *(3:39)—Gentle guitars and vocals make up the beginning of the song before giving rise to an ominous build. 3. (3:22)—FCC WARNING (f•••). Probably the most straightforward song. Beautiful, chiming guitars and bitter vocals. 4. (2:39)—Plaintive, beautiful guitar jam with a brief inclusion of lyrics. 5. *(4:15)—A slow drumbeat and lush guitars give the music a warm, welcoming feel. 6. *(3:25)—Sounds like a creepy, warped Western song. Deep spoken vocals and something that sounds like steel guitar. 7. (4:48)—High-pitched guitar plucking and hand drums characterize the first half, wobbly rock instrumentation the second half. 8. (3:30)—Slow drums and pretty guitars with warrior narrative lyrics. 9. (3:49)—Has the sound quality of a demo. Apocalyptic spoken vocals and multiple tracks of incantation-like mumbling. | ||
