JASON KAO HWANG / EDGE: Crossroads Unseen Euonymous, 2011 AVANT-GARDE – The third release from Hwang’s impressive quartet (violin/cornet/bass/drums) has bursts of high excitement and slow, strained passages, aggressive soloing and intricate ensemble work in five detailed, thoroughly explored sonic landscapes. As before, Hwang and bassist Ken Filiano make the biggest impact, but everybody sounds good. Check out EDGE’s other discs in the KZSU library for more. Try any track.
