More Kranky neo-classical beauty. Christina Vantzou is a longtime collaborator of Adam Wiltzie, Stars of the Lid, and Sparklehorse. The Kranky one-sheet does a great job describing this - it’s more terrestrial than SotL and more symphonic than The Dead Texan (one of her projects). She spent three years writing this after her final tour with Sparklehorse and then reworked the extended composition for a 7-piece orchestra, eventually recording in San Francisco with the Magik*Magik Orchestra. Lots of strings and distant horns. You will slip into the most pleasant dreams when you listen to this. For fans of A Winged Victory for the Sullen, The Dead Texan, and Brian McBride.
1. Lush strings, gentle horns, light keys, slow dreamy relaxation. (3:43)
2. Whooshy, slow sustained, little bit darker and dronier. (4:26)
3. Blends in from previous track, lots of courtly horns. (1:17)
*4. Glorious, triumphant, dramatic strings morphs into a beautiful, warm, heavenly comatose. (4:37)
5. Choral bliss layers and affecting, subtle progression. (3:43)
6. Major symphonic lushness and mini neo-classical suite. (7:35)
7. Short and sweet with some horns. (1:44)
*8. Drifty droning loop (some electronics?) dissolves into sweeping strings held for long stretches. (7:04)
9. More symphonic slowness. (4:05)
*10. Starts a little bit like SotL and lots of ambient windy textures envelop. (8:27)
