An Illect Recordings Christmas Recording

This Hip Hop inspired Christmas album is a throwback to 1990s hip hop with most of the tracks using jazzy drum kits and scratching samples. If you like east-coast style hip hop and appreciate musical simplicity with a solid, positive message, this one's for you for this season. No FCC violations. Suggested tracks: 1,4,5,7,8,9,10.

1- (4:00)Old school sound similar to Digable Planets, heavy piano samples and "tape"-style drum kits and synths. Highlights Christmas activities and fun. Smooth beat.
2- (2:34)Sample heavy, med-tempo, blue-grass guitar intro, hard east-coast hip hop style drums and scratching.
3- (3:15) Bell sounds carry this jam and the catchy chorus. Shotout to LL Cool J on the frequently used expression "It's Jinglin' Baby, Go 'Head Baby."
4- (4:37)Cutest child voice on the intro singing Hark The Herald Angels Sing. More serious song and reflected in the beat; scratched in samples, battle-beat style, stripped down, not many instruments.
5- (3:09)Hard drum/orchestra hits layered for emphasis. Creepy synth sounds, organs and syncopated hi-hats carry the beat. Flute sounds add flavor.
6- (3:33)Happy-sounding, up-tempo beat created with a nice piano sample, a sine/woodwind sound, a nice "clap", and hi hats that sound like bells jingling or a maracas. "Too bad the season goes by so fast."
7- (2:25)Motown/bluesy song emphasized by a smooth baseline and jazzy drums and nice vocals (singing).
8- (5:19)Bass heavy with nice guitar keeping the melody, overlayed with mellow synth sounds...and a whistle at times in the background. @ 2:25 there is a very nice musical breakdown. Interesting sample of Hark the Herald Angels Sing plays later in the background as the music rides out.
9- (3:30)Crazy synths used as the bassline overlayed with another synth-piano sound, basic drum kit make for the canvas used to paint what family time over the Christmas Season can be like.
10- (2:07)God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman played on the harp, sampled carries this beat. Jazzy drums and harp samples. Effects on the vocals make the vocals sound like speaking through a megaphone. Short song.
