Pop that's cerebral and prog-like, with nice melodies and bursts of noisy guitar. Chamber-pop duo that uses elements of prog, folk, modern classical, and, yeah, big noisy guitar. Performed by the Bay Area husband-and-wife duo of Karl Evangelista and Rei Scampavia, plus various guests (drums or sax on many tracks, e.g.). No FCCs detected. Warning: WIDE dynamic range, i.e., really quiet parts followed by really loud parts. DJs, watch your levels as you play this one. 1- Spastic noisy guitar juxtaposed with calm sweet vocals. 2- Bouncy slowish guitar; very delicate vocal line 3- Quiet, slightly sinister pop. Catchy, careful, low-key groove, a bit proggy. Some chamber-y free improv. 4- Low-key, morose pop. Sublime jazzy guitar solo. 5- Pretty instrumental (fans of very early Genesis take note) 6- Slow-moving: Gentle and pretty instrumental, some nice piano and guitar figures. Quiet, creeping vocals. 7- Gentle, pretty song (with loud buzzy guitar). 8- Neat instrumental, gets into a cooking tiki-room feel, w/sax 9- Pretty sunrise melody; searing acid guitar 10- Folky pop. Listen for the change in mood in the lyrics! 11- Dark Western-style ballad, gets into a long frenzied guitar solo. Very cool stuff, and it does seem to be about Eric Dolphy. 12- Slowish, eerie. |
