This Portland-based band combines European folk melodies and burlesque sensibilities into a wacky mélange that is both fun and dark. Great stuff with a klezmer-meets-the-Muppets-at-the-opera feeling with a touch of a circus freak show thrown in. Unpredictable and all so good. Yay! 1. Spoken word leads into a mid/upbeat klezmer-infused mix. 2. Upbeat Eastern European/klezmer instrumental. Slows later. 3. Jazzy & slow then upbeat and fiery. Suggestive but not dirty. 4. Bohemian/gypsy ode. Starts mid/picks up w/wacky male vox. 5. Nostalgic bal musette-infused ballad. Like an old carousel song. 6. Fast and driving gypsy dance. You picture fire eaters on stage. 7. Sweet old-timey waltz w/sexy modern female vocals. 8. Slow drama w/dark and twisted vocal effects. Rather creepy. 9. Modern jazz-y infused take on fire dance. Mid/upbeat & so cool. 10. Contemporary, relaxed. Twists & turns as the circus packs up. 11. Slow, tinny piano into mid/up overwrought vox as all pitch in. | ||
