Moose Mingles, The

Playful tech house. Brit-gone-Berliner Lee Jones here puts out a bunch of new material on Aus Music, but don’t worry about the whole tech house thing. This release is pretty much all over the map with Jones’ own material falling somewhere between house and techno while the remixers either go deeper or look to the UK bass scene for inspiration. A somewhat uneven listen, but both remixes are great.

1) 7:19 Driving tech house with cute bleeps and chopped up moans.
2) 5:51 * Softer, more ambient than the original. Bass music with house ancestors. Alternates between building up layers and stripping them down.
3) 5:59 Tight control, massive synthesizer sweeps on an understated foundation. Cool and simple.
4) 6:19 ** Solid Midland rework. More complex, less dull. Adds a whole lot of tension and some softer keys. Great track.
5) 8:00 Lighter, upbeat. Fewer worries, but also not quite as engaging. Retro wobbly keys and hints of a slap bass(!).
6) 6:50 Simple, experimental house. Warm, yet somewhat introverted. Second half is way better than the first.
7) 6:39 Hypno-techno-inspiration. Borrows some cues from Sandwell District but keeps it soft enough to still be presentable.
8) 7:25 * Simple pleasures. Piano samples, bubbly keys, and a rolling low-end. Circular feel.
