dreamy/icelandy/shoegazy
ambient 'post rock', droney and pretty. use of bowed cello and other nice chambery touches. these tracks were recorded live in london at end of 2008.(what we have here is a promo sampler of a double l.p. soundtrack to the concert film)
like most live albums, the fade up of the crowd sounds is awkward in places. overall: very powerful= I wanna see them live now!
(but they're on 'hiatus')
FCC CLEAN: THEY'RE SINGING IN ICE/HOPELANDIC!
RIYL: ENO, jonsi (duh), mogwai, radiohead, hammock, bethany curve, all those dreamrock bands and anything outta iceland, et al.
MR. ESQ. SEZ: MEOW MEOW MEOW MEOW MEOW!
PLAY THESE TRACKS: 1,2,5,6,7,8.
note: all tracks are long tracks...
*1. ringing start, builds into the dreamy.
*2. full on distortion barrage begin. then...it get's icelandic (barren soundscape) then back to barrage, then...it gets saddy.
3. organ start, churchy. indie poppy.
4. piano! -I like piano! (poppy and cheezzy)
*5. BEST TRACK: it's epic, baby! sad and dramatic, the guitar solo going eno.
*6. churchy, dreamy, momentous.
*7. BEST TRACK II: eno/u2 gits lead into ethereal.
the sadness makes language moot=it's epic, baby!
*8. sad piano -I like piano!
