LJHO is from Vienna and employ scores of jaw harps with a multitude of instruments including pans, whistle, marimba, percussion, accordion, etc. Varied genres, or, perhaps none at all, or all their own. Very intriguing and magnetic stuff. There’s no lyrics, but about half of the songs have ‘voicings’ - mostly guttural. If you like stuff like Blue Man Group and the like, you may dig this. Great stuff. No FCC’s. *My Favorites*: I liked them all. 1. (5:30) Mid. Driving, if a bit disjointed, with a few guttural voicings. 2. (4:54) Slow / Mid. Musically free-association, with appearances of a harmonica, marimba, accordion. and ??? 3. (2:55) Mid. Upbeat, driving. Eastern European stylings, quite alluring stuff. Lots of voicings. 4. (2:52) Mid. Film noir, car-chase, western film, Aussie stuff, quite an amalgam. Cool. 5. (6:05) Mid. Horns, whistle, pans, marching drums, Caribbean / African/ South American stylings. 6. (3:03) Mid. Water intro. Voicings with reggae beat, keys, cymbal strikes?, accordion. 7. (3:04) Slow / Mid. Nice percussion, woodwind, voicings. Quite ethereal and heavenly. 8. (3:14) Mid. Gets really spacey, Halloween-ish, voicings. Cool. 9. (4:43) Mid. Airy, ethereal, kind of out-there. Jazzy. Cool. 10. (3:35) Mid. Upbeat with great voicings. Jazzy, loungey. 11. (3:33) Mid. Bent, mad, brilliant. Like finding yourself in a collider with a free-jazz marching band. 12. (3:20) Slow / Mid. Mad voicings becoming very Opera-like. Accordion, pans, plodding beat. |
