Gothic Americana/post-rock
This San Francisco band creates this loose concept album full of doom, gloom, and earthy rock ‘n’ roll. The darker aspects of this album are reminiscent of the Black Heart Procession, and the slightly growled Southern vocals will appeal to fans of Califone. It’s a shame that this album had such a limited release (100 copies), as this is wonderful music. Start with 3, 5, 6, 8. No FCCs.

NOTE: The song titles are often so long that Zookeeper does not display them in full. They can be found on the inside of the CD package.

1. (4:32)—Slow, in the style of a dirge. Remains relatively soft the whole time. Double-tracked vocals, one track very deep.
2. (2:23)—Much heavier, still slow. Half-sung vocals.
3. *(5:40)—Picks up in tempo. It’s quite groovy and includes a horn, though it’s still doomy.
4. (3:43)— Remains mid-tempo. A gang chorus and some occasional loud guitar dominate this tense song.
5. *(5:27)—Led by some darkly pretty plucked acoustic guitar. The drawling vocals come to the forefront here, accompanied by chanting, piano, drums, and a horn along the way.
6. *(5:07)—Starts in the same vein as the previous sign, but with a faster tempo. Climaxes halfway in, then pulls back with subdued post-rock guitars.
7. (3:28)—Mid-tempo, keeps a relatively continuous medium-loud dynamic. Gang vocals. The last minute is instrumental.
8. *(2:53)—For its first half, this song is a dead on sea shanty (about zombies), complete with a giant gang chorus. The second half is loud, menacing rock.
9. (5:35)—Another song with two parts, the first featuring post-rock guitars and the second a repeated gang chorus.
10. (7:00)—Mid-tempo. Stars with subdued electric guitar and vocals, then builds slowly toward a rock ‘n’ roll climax.
