Monkey Power Trio is the result of “a solemn promise” among five weirdos to get together to make up songs one day a year. Whatever the hell they come up with in that brief annual ritual gets pressed to a record. I guess the Gods of Weird Music meet on the same day they do because this 7” sounds like the Dick Panthers guy, Frank Zappa, and that guy by the train station with the out-of tune guitar making up songs after huffing glue and sustaining serious head injuries.

Rate this any way you want, my point is it’s awesome
33rpm. FCC: A3 “fuckin’”
A1. Tough-guy skronky dark rocker with the drunkest of Tom Waits’ brass players, like the bully who rode the short bus singin a song about, uhh… rug burn.
A2. Strummed guitar ditty with some carefree crooning about Terry Schiavo and monsters in your head
A3. Sharp stinging guitar chords with some erratic angry rhythms, passive aggressive rambling half-singing, FCC “fuck”—abruptly ends with a few bars of a ballad.
B1. sloppy, jangly booze rock, stop/start off-kilterness, dissonant chords; some witty lewdness (“coppin a feel, feelin a cop”)
B2. midpaced Neanderthal drum machine and some sparse power chords blurt out a brief song about bread
B3. Lighthearted surfy tune with some skronky sax
