You Got To Love Me
Grandiose deep house. David August’s name rippled through the deep house community in 2010 when his excellent Instant Harmony EP brought “Moving Day” to the masses. Now, August is back on label-of-the-moment, Diynamic, with yet another EP packed with wonderfully upbeat deep house with a striking sense of disco drama. |
Try: 3, 2, 1
1) 5:59 ** Looong hushed opening leads into a booming kick drum and infectious bassline. Ridiculously funky, head bopping all the way. Cool acappella breakdown.
2) 6:37 * Soft, squishy bass line gets loosened up by a couple of layers of atmospheric synthesizers. Tight.
3) 6:18 * Tense, dramatic. Sparse instrumentation makes way for scrambling “lalala” vocals. The vocals fade as the ominous bassline takes over again, with excellent results.
