Album Review
Your Imaginary Friend
Reviewed 2019-07-31
One long track (plus of improv organic noise that samples bursts including lots of Miles Davis’ Bitches Brew and other jazz classics, voice samples of the masters themselves, and BART sounds. Admittedly I thought the CD was skipping or flawed when I first played it (and I listen to a lot of non music). Very sparse, very arty, very late night obtuse. In his words: “…a radio play created for German station SWR in 2018, it is my first step into radioart. The work is based on snippets of interviews, rehearsals and performances by people whose work had an influence on my artistic path: Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, Billie Holiday, Jacques Derrida, Chris Marker and many more.” Another one or two shorter tracks are included that are snippets of the primary composition that has a vestige of summary below.

A natural ending at 13:35 if desired and others along way: then a mans voice in French. Silence then very sparse sounds. 17:50 a high drone then more bursts, sparse percussion with field recordings of the street, BART 25:30 another pause. 32:30 BART sounds, loops.
