The OO-Ray
Empty Orchestra
Lifelike Family

Big beautiful fuzzy dramatic cello drone. Created while finishing The OO-Ray’s PhD in Biology, Empty Orchestra protests the savagery of today while maintaining that calm and peace can be reached through turbulence. This really tugged at my heartstrings and not only because I’m about to defend my own dissertation. Wow.

RIYL Richard Skelton, Deaf Center, Pascal Savy, Tim Hecker

***1. (5:02) Cello drone with fuzz. Achingly beautiful, big whirring bass beats adds urgency
*2. (4:38) Uncertainty, self-doubt, a little discordant uncomfortable beauty
***3. (4:05) Questioning, wandering around in circles in a dark beautiful scary forest. Lots of layers, piano, pulsing bass
***4. (4:50) Tentative strains of a melody, branching out and evolving, big bass wooshes
*5. (4:06) Fuzz alarm pulses, piano trill drone, cautious steps, a nervous state of readiness
*6. (4:27) Guitar added to the drone? Bass arpeggios, upstairs noise, constant questioning
***7. (5:35) Antti Tolvi piano under sweeping cello drone, steady bass drops out leaving swaying layers until it kicks back in, solemn trumpet blasts, Antti Tolvi exit
8. (5:44) Simple bass cello drone simple melody, gentle inviting lullaby
9. (5:09) Big dramatic swooshes of bass with some minimal cello discordant fretting, bass and trumpets get weird in not a good way
*10. (30:50) Live bonus track. Strong steady piano, plaintive cello bowing, shy weird growing cut up noise. 2 fake out endings along the way
