Album Review

Bauhaus’ian goth tinged epic folk inspired dream rock with an 80’s flavor. Fans of Tamaryn, early Cure, My Bloody Valentine and the influential stylings of late 80’s celtic goth a la Coil, Current 93, and of course Bauhaus/Love and Rockets will adore this. The people involved have pedigrees that include many of the above bands. 5 tracks (see note on track 3 below), epic, mostly minor key’ed, evolve through moods and changes often in a discordant manner. Really great stuff from the AntiClock Label. All tracks are great.

1) (6:59) chiming guitar 80’s tinged dream rock, poppy
2) (7:20) dark brooding 12 string folk guit gives way ot Cure’ish head nodding beat
3) (8:11) more upbeat, MBV comes to mind – a seemingly different song appears at 3:45 remaining, a slower acoustic off-key sung gothy thing, one could almost pot down (the liner notes say theres 6 tracks on this, so I wonder…)
4) (18:55) sparse trippy electronics over distant sound of track 5, then pump organ, 12 string, piano enter, minor keyed gothy Bauhausian epic ballad evolves
5) (4:09) almost a straight up T-Rex styled rock song, the one buried in start of previous track with a cool experimental out-tro
