INDIE POP / FOLKADELIC

Here's a short set of terrific, fun tunes from Austin-based singer-songwriter Daisy O'Conner. The publicity sheet calls her music Folkadelic Queer-pop." That sounds right: the gender orientations and sexual preferences are varied. Great songwriting, great singing.
RIYL Courtney Barnett, Jenny Lewis.

FCC issue in 1, 4

1 (FCC: "bullshit") Slow. Simple, uplifting folk song. Teaming up with a friend to get through life. Just singing & strumming at first, old-time piano & handclaps join in. (2:55)
2 ** Mid-fast. Rowdy country-rock with attitude to burn. A little bit naughty. Elec gtr chords & drums mostly; a quick lead gtr solo at the end. (2:44)
3 ** Slow. Girlfriend is a tomboy or possibly trans. Cutesy, vampy voice. Exotic mood is aided by clarinet & marimba. (3:42)
4 * Mid-tempo. Swagger from a girl who lives hard & plays hard. (2:28)
5 * Mid-tempo. Joyous, faux-hick toe-tapper about drinking, singing & dancing in the moonlight. And it's a love song too! (2:39)
