Catchy, feel-good power pop. The jangly, strummy debut album from The Dates, led by Garett Goddard (King Tuff, Personal and the Pizzas). Sunny, breezy, and fun. Pairs well with other labelmates on Burger Records. All songs are great but start with 1, 3, 4, 8 or 2. All tracks FCC clean. RIYL: Teenage Fanclub, Big Star, Shoes, The Records, The Byrds, Flamin Groovies
*1. (3:45) Bright sunny pop with great vocal harmonizing and psychedelic elements
*2. (3:02) Bold and confident with fuzzy guitars
*3. (2:42) Marching drumbeat, layered vocals, great guitar solo. Bouncy and upbeat
*4. (3:55) Date night at the drive in theater! Jangle pop with revved up guitars
5. (3:21) Midtempo strummer with a preset drumloop and phasered guitars for a psychedelic touch
6. (3:08) Fuzzed-out rocker with tons of jangle goodness going on. Great energy
7. (2:54) Powerpop punctuated by ringing guitars. Reflections on relationships: “when you’re sad and blue, love’s makes a fool of you,” etc.
