Free jazz. The deliciously awkward combination of tuba, guitar, and bass guitar (+sax +drums), made to soar. The tuba isn't an oom-pah backing instrument; it's bouncing and bubbling all over the place in an almost lead role (see #3).
It's got a happy feel overall, and the music dances light on its feet. You won't find a central melody but you will find an direct rhythm in the drums and tuba. The jumbly sound has a surface resemblance to Afro-pop (don't take that too literally, but it's the same light-touch, constant-motion feeling). And, for radio-friendliness, no tracks over 9 minutes.
1- Low and mysterious, with flute/guitar lead.
2- Trombone and flute take the lead. A quick-fingered scribble of a guitar figure.
3- Mid/fast, a brisk jog. No sax, I think.
4- Angular sax over a light jumble, then a cooking guitar solo
5- Whips into a nice little frenzy. Opens with a nifty drum solo
6- A careful crawl.
