Album Review
Bernie Madoff
Reviewed 2010-04-22

Orchestral childrens album of mostly short tracks with a small orchestral ensemble and french narration. Tracks 1-6 are from History of Babar, tracks 7-35 are from Baba: Le Vent Tourbillon. It's mostly whimsical, short tracks, a much better listening experience if you speak french, but quirky if you do not. Fcc clean- brick
-spoken french intro, then pretty rising and falling majestic hot air balloon music, hits patch of turbulence at 2:25, flutters, and staccatos to spiraling falling end
-1:30 of french narration about babar, then plucky string & flute interplay, warm horns
- spread out french narration breaks interspersed, with emotive, busy, big city whirling classical music. ends with the most gorgeous an airy composition
- narration gives way to tension, swelling, racing, immininent piece
- warm tuba and low string plod through, a guide oboe, frenchman's voice works well. ends with cute arrival music
-styled french narration direct over music, sort of a swanky orchestral farewell
-reminds me of danny elfin style film music w/ showtune style french fem ox. really explores, flutters, and resolves itself with the vocals removed. an overture for the piece.
-male narration over solo sad clarinet
-french male narration track with 15 second orchestral swell. short.
- excited narrator with flute ensemble. short,
- tinkly, dreamy lullaby start w/ fem ox, but jumps into hyper broadway mode
*-gorgeous french horn interlude with short excited burt of french speech
tense wire sound, rushing narrator, piccolo
- the contrabassoon track. i wish this narrator would shut up so i could hear the goddamn contrabassoon better. did i mention i hate the french?
- french man and clarinet, i understood the word souffle
- short little oboe lick
- quick 16 bar or so rifff for the whole ensemble
*- hopping flute, pretty, frenchamn doesn't interrupt much

- oboe and eglish horn form a partnership
*- longer track- flowy rising french femme ballad, jerks into a yelling duel, pace picks up, and take jazzy swing to the end
- two lines, w/ clarinet punctuation. i hate frenchmen.
- french women, though, saying ataque, ataque, fine by me! gives way to a warm 1 min orchestra piece
- way to cute fem vox led showtuney ballad. i'd like to give this one el guillotine.
-quick lick with the french guy saying word that vaguely sounds like douce
*- floaty dreamy airy ballet waggle, not much narrative interruption, great piece
- thick sultry tones, goofy french wordplay
- flute fluttering with the man & woman speaking silly
- same concept as abobve, with clarinet
- same concept as above, with oboe
*- same concept as above with bassoon
- warm tones w/ full ensemble, man & woman in playful dialogue
- fem narration intro for 25 secedes, then playful full ensemble piece, simple, mellow, main theme from the piece
*- chamber music childrens jazz. tight ensemble piece with a countenance, some ragtime percussion, and real bounce, no narrator holding the musicians back. not quite coltrane by any means.
-piece featuring the singinging french woman. i'd rather shave my armpits than listen to this, but you might enjoy it.
*- short salutatory swing outré piece, for you to come out take a bow, drink a martini, music for a room with a chandelier and complacency
