Cheer-Accident is a band that's been around since 1981, and on their latest album they mix a variety of styles , ranging from post-punk to pop (and a lot of times it happens in the span of one track). This is an interesting album that is able to walk a fine line between experimentation and harmony with pleasant results. Fans of early Mr. Bungle, John Zorn should give this a listen. 1. *4:33 Guitar burst out backed by off-kilter drum beat. Mix in vocals, sounds like everything's slightly off bent, but in a good way.
2. 4:34 Synth, programmed drum beat. Sounds like "Young Throats" by Parenthetical Girls.
3. *4:59 Sounds like math rock. Repetitive guitar, frantic drums. Stops/starts with an actual melody. Very Zorn/Patton-esque.
4. 1:27 Piercing guitar, laid-back groove slowly fades in.
5. 3:48 More straightforward, included horns reminiscent of Mr. Bungle.
6. *3:18 Falsetto, organ. Harmonizing vocals. What the hell's going on? These guys are pretty cool.
7. 3:20 Sounds a lot like track 3 but with vocals.
8. 3:22 Transitions from previous song, same motif of piercing/repetitive guitar with syncopated drums. Vocals come in halfway.
9. 0:44 Short interlude, starts of a cappella, then guitar segues into next song.
10. 4:09 Similar to most of album, then halfway through they go double-time.
11. *1:11 Really cool interplay between guitar and horns.
12. 2:13 Sounds like a conventional pop song, but the drums are pretty unconventional.
