Ride Out the Storm – Kaz Murphy (as told by Mr. Bones)

In his fourth release Murphy deftly combines his astute observations of the human condition with a laconic JJ Cale like sound that beckons the listener to pay attention to his sage commentary on such issues as poverty, addiction and estrangement. His unique voice paired with top flight mandolin and acoustic bass accents create a simple, yet intriguing country/folk/blues sound.

RIFL: Lyle Lovett, Wood Brothers, Jessie Collin Young

**1 When People Come Together - infectious mid-tempo toe tapper about
people coming together to face adversity with reference to Tom Joad
from Grapes of Wrath (3:30)
**2 Sunny Day - Haunting blues number honoring Johnny Cash with nice
mandolin/guitar interplay (4:29)
*3 Blue Devil Sky - mid-tempo ode to the downtrodden who work very
hard in return for very little (4:32)
4 Thunderhead - soft acoustic number celebrating the cleansing effect
of rain (3:45)
**5 Soft Heart - exquisite number about people who have empathy for
others featuring his great voice with a virtuoso spanish guitar
solo (4:32)
6 Where You Come From – Haunting mid-tempo blues number
reflecting on the importance of one's roots (3:00)
7 All I Wanna Do Is Work - mid-tempo tune about wanting work (4:24)
8 Somebody Could Be Me - jangley number wanting one's old love
back (3:38)
**9 Stella Rae - jaunty bitter sweet rocker about a girl's hard life leading
to drug addiction with nice harmonies and guitar break. (3:28)
10 Forget About the World Tonight - mellow love song (4:27)
