This band, doubleVee, is from Oklahoma City, OK. Singers Allan Vest and Barb [Hendrickson] Vest launched this band in 2012.Allan was the primary songwriter, lead vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist for indie/orchestral pop band “Starlight Mints”. Barb spent sixteen years in public radio where she produced Filmscapes, a nationally syndicated film music program. This, their most recent EP, has a few kind of creepy tracks, but they are as catchy as your favorite pop song. Recommendations:3, 5 FCC clean

1. Minor, creepy tone. Sounds like it would belong in a modern “The Addams Family”. Vocals in different pitches. Quic.k violin sounds interspersed.
2. Catchy, driving guitar with solid bass. Vocals introduce a different element to the song, kind of like a child’s song. Ends kind of suddenly, on the words “basement floor” so keep an eye on that.
3. ***Techno-inspired intro. Sounds like it belongs in like a nostalgic world of robots, where there is both hope for the future and despair for the present (?). Awesome guitar kicks at second minute. Vocals approximate a Flobots sound. Trumpet effects sprinkled within the song.
4. Slows down the album, sounds more ballady with the acoustic guitar. It picks up a sort of orchestra-type sound after a while. Slows down the last 2-3 seconds and then drops off.
5. ***At first reminded me of “Handshake” by Two Door Cinema Club, but definitely went on to develop itself independently. Pretty enjoyable spurts of piano. Vocals are definitely really cool, positively add to the track. Different tone for the bridge at 2:30. Chorus is as sticky as gum on your shoe with the opposite effect (that of liking, not disgust).
